     She and her brother Voight traveled by horse and buggy from their home in Sunfield, to high school in Lake Odessa (about 18 to 20 miles). She played on the women’s basketball

He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on Leyte and Okinawa Island from 20 October 1944 to 25 May 1945.^3,1

     The 1920 US Census enumerated him as Robert B. Smith (given age 71), the head of household at 721 Pinson Street, Flint, Genesee County, Michigan, on 22 January 1920. Also living in the household were his wife, Lydia A. Smith (given age 63) .⁷
