At age 18, Julia Ann King married first Charles McCartney, age 29, son of Henry McCartney (II) and Rebecca McClung, on Thursday, 8 January 1852 at Adams Township, Seneca County, Ohio. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Minister Chas. B. Sheldon.4,5,6 Julia McCartney (given age 27) was listed as a household member living with Charles McCartney (given age 38) on the 1860 Census on 21 July 1860 Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.7
