Sarah (Clark) Mathers 1800-1869
     Sarah Clark was born on Saturday, 15 March 1800 at New York.2 She was probably included as a free white female, newborn to 10 years old, in the household of William Clark (given age 26-44) on the 1800 Census on 4 August 1800 at Milton, Cayuga County, New York.3 Sarah Clark was probably included as a free white female, age ten to sixteen years old, in the household of William Clark (given age 26-44) on the 1810 Census on 6 August 1810 at Genoa, Cayuga County, New York.3
     At age 21, Sarah Clark married James Mathers, age 24, son of James Mathers and Margaret (?), on Thursday, 29 November 1821 at Seneca County, Ohio. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Justice David Smith Esq.2
     Mr. [Wililam] Clark was from Cayuga County, New York. His daughter (Sarah) became the wife of James Mathers, which was the first marriage in the county. The two have since removed to California. The ceremony was performed by David Smith, Esq., first justice of the county. Mr. Smith was at that time a resident of Fort Seneca - now Pleasant - Township, and has since deceased.4
     Sarah Mathers and James Mathers relocated at St. Louis, Missouri, in April 1842. Letters nominating James and Carolan as farmers to the Nebraska Mission Pawnees were written at St. Louis, Missouri on 25 April 1842.2
     Sarah Mathers and James Mathers relocated at Pawnee Nation, North Platte, Lincoln County, Nebraska, in October 1842. The Mathers’ nominations are confirmed on 07 Oct 1842, by which time they are in Nebraska.5,2
Sarah Mathers (given age 60) was listed as a household member living with James Mathers (given age 63) on the 1860 Census on 21 June 1860 at San Luis Obispo County, California.6
     Sarah died on 6 August 1869 at Cambria, San Luis Obispo County, California, at age 69 leaving James as a widower.2

     Clark Brown was born on Friday, 20 July 1804.1
     At age 42, Clark Brown married Louisa Clark, age 40, daughter of John Clark and Elizabeth Hubbard, on Tuesday, 16 March 1847 at Seneca County, Ohio.2
     Clark died on 15 March 1856 at Eden Township, Seneca County, Ohio, at age 51 leaving Louisa as a widow.1 Clark Brown was buried in the Rock Creek Cemetery, located at Eden Township, Seneca County, Ohio.3

     The 1840 US Census enumerated her as Ann Clark (given age 50-60), the head of household at White Pigeon, St. Joseph County, Michigan, on 1 June 1840. Based on ages, it is possible that the following were also living in the household: , Eleutheros Americus Clark, a free white male, age ten to fifteen years old, Lovina Fidelia Clark, a free white female age fifteen to twenty years old, Sarah Mariah Clark, a free white female age twenty to thirty years old.4
     Anna died in 1843 White Pigeon, St. Joseph County, Michigan.1

Clark (given age 12), Lucretia Kelley (given age 14), Hiram Rossman (given age 26) and Frances Rossman (given age 18) were listed as household members. Euleutheros was employed as a Physician.7

     Marcellus died on 15 November 1845 at Pawnee Nation, North Platte, Lincoln County, Nebraska, at age 18.1
