     George J. Banks was born on Thursday, 28 July 1870 at Lone Star, Douglas County, Kansas.1
     At age 25, George J. Banks married Ethelyn Irene Armstrong, age 22, daughter of Beatty Armstrong and Mary Alice McClung, on Wednesday, 25 December 1895.2
     The 1900 US Census enumerated him as George J. Banks (given age 29), the head of household at High Point Township, Decatur County, Iowa, on 8 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Ethlyn Banks (given age 24), his sons, John L. Banks (given age 3) and Herman I. Banks (given age 9 months) .3
The 1905 Kansas State Census enumerated him as G. J. Banks (given age 34), the head of household at Lecompton Township, Douglas County, Kansas, on 1 March 1905. Ethe I. Banks (given age 30), Johny L. Banks (given age 8), Hermon I. Banks (given age 5) and Lela L. Banks (given age 1) were listed as household members.4
     The 1910 US Census enumerated him as George J. Banks (given age 39), the head of household at Middle Lawrence Road, Lecompton Township, Douglas County, Kansas, on 12 May 1910. Also living in the household were his wife, Ethelyn I. Banks (given age 36), his sons, John L. Banks (given age 13) and Herman I. Banks (given age 10), his daughters, Leila I. Banks (given age 6) and Edith L. Banks (given age 3) .5
     Geo. J. Banks (given age 44) was listed as the head of a family on the 1915 Kansas State Census in 1915 Lecompton Township, Douglas County, Kansas. Ethyline I. Banks (given age 43), John L. Banks (given age 18), Herman I. Banks (given age 15), Leila L. Banks (given age 11) and Edith I. Banks (given age 8) were listed as household members.6 George J. Banks was named as the nearest relative of John Lyman Banks (given age 21) on his WWI draft registration on 12 September 1918 at RFD 3, Lecompton, Douglas County, Kansas.7
     The 1920 US Census enumerated him as George J. Banks (given age 49), the head of household Lecompton Township, Douglas County, Kansas, on 7 January 1920. Also living in the household were his wife, Ethelyn Banks (given age 45), his son, Herman I. Banks (given age 20), his daughters, Leila I. Banks (given age 16) and Edith L. Banks (given age 13) .8
     George J. died on 9 April 1924 at Douglas County, Kansas, at age 53.1 He was buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, located at Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas.1
