At age 26, Robert Holmes Horton Sr. married Frances Ellen Coppock, daughter of Murray L. Coppock and Mary E. (?), on Sunday, 5 September 1948 at Cherokee, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.1 Robert Holmes Horton Sr. graduated from University of Oklahoma at Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma, in 1951.
He retired after 35 years from Phillips Petroleum Co. as assistant manager of marketing. He was a member of the Hole-in-One Club at Hillcrest Country Club, Masonic Lodge of Muskogee, and was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels.
Robert Holmes died on 27 November 2005 at Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma, at age 83 leaving Frances Ellen as a widow.1,2 Robert Holmes Horton Sr. was buried on Wednesday, 30 November 2005 in the Cherokee Cemetery, located at Cherokee, Cherokee County, Oklahoma.1
