     Adolph William Gempel (given age 29) registered for the World War I civilian draft on 5 June 1917, while residing at 423 Frank Street, Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan. Adolph was employed as a baker by Genpel & Son Bakery at Adrian.1
     The 1920 US Census enumerated him as Adolph W. Gempel (given age 31), the head of household at 513 Frank Street, Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan, on 14 January 1920. Also living in the household were his wife, Eva E. Gempel (given age 32), his daughters, Dorothy Gempel (given age 6) and Vivian Gempel (given age 5) . Adolph was employed as a baker at a bakery.3
     The 1930 US Census enumerated him as Adolph W. Gempel (given age 42), the head of household Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan, on 7 April 1930. Also living in the household were his wife, Eva E.
