     Mary Dawley married Samuel Sherman, age 19, son of Samuel Sherman and Annah Congdon, on Saturday, 20 February 1790.1 Mary Sherman was probably included as a free white female, age twenty-six to forty-five years old, in the household of Samuel Shermon (given age 16-25) on the 1800 Census on 4 August 1800 at Washington County, Rhode Island.2 Mary Sherman was probably included as a free white female, age twenty-six to forty-five years old, in the household of Saml. Sherman (given age 26-44) on the 1810 Census on 6 August 1810 at Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.3 Mary Sherman was probably included as a free white female, over forty-five years old, in the household of Samuel Sherman (given age 26-44) on the 1820 Census on 7 August 1820 Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.4,5

     Samuel Sherman was born say 1776 at Exeter, Washington County, Colony of Rhode Island, British America, (now Rhode Island). He was probably included as a free white male, age ten to sixteen years old, in the household of Moses Sherman Jr. on the 1782 Rhode Island census in 1782 at Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.1 Samuel Sherman was probably included as a free white male, under age 16, in the household of Moses Sherman Jun. (given age 16+) on the 1790 Census Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.2
     Samuel Sherman married Mary Niles, age 21, daughter of Jeremiah Niles Esq. and Mary Aylesworth, on Saturday, 18 January 1794 Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Elder Phillip Jenkins.3
     The 1800 US Census enumerated him as Samuel Sherman, the head of household at Washington Township, Washington County, Rhode Island, on 1 June 1800. Based on ages, it is possible that the following were also living in the household: Lawton Albro Sherman, a free white male, age newborn to 10 years old, Mary Sherman, a free white female, ages twenty-six to forty-five years of age. Moses Sherman Jr. was listed as a neighbor.4
     The 1810 US Census enumerated him as Saml. Sherman (given age 26-44), the head of household Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island, on 1 June 1810. Based on ages, it is possible that the following were also living in the household:, Lawton Albro Sherman, a free white male, age ten to sixteen years old, Mary Sherman, a free white female, ages twenty-six to forty-five years of age.5
     The 1820 US Census enumerated him as Samuel Sherman (given age 26-44), the head of household Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island, on 1 June 1820.      Samuel died on 4 December 1843 leaving Mary as a widow.7 Samuel Sherman was buried in the Deacon Samuel Sherman Lot, located at Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island.7
