     The 1860 US Census enumerated him as Samuel Sherman (given age 56), the head of household Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island, on 12 June 1860. Amy Sherman (given age 60) and Peleg Tripp (given age 60) were listed as household members. Gershom Palmer (given age 84) was listed as his neighbor.³
     The 1870 US Census enumerated him as Samuel Sherman (given age 66), the head of household Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island, on 30 June 1870. Amey Sherman (given age 71), Jeremiah Dawley (given age 48) and Emeline Mitchell (given age 19) were listed as household members.⁴
     Samuel died before 1880 leaving Amie as a widow.

     Her husband, Samuel, died before 1880, leaving Amie as a widow. She was listed as the mother of Peleg A. Sherman (given age 53) on the 1880 Census recorded 9 June 1880 at Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.⁵

     Gersham Palmer Sherman was born on Friday, 26 September 1823 at Exeter, Washington County, Rhode Island, son of Sam'l, Jr., and Amie.^1,2
     Gersham Palmer Sherman married Sarah (?) say 1846.
     The 1860 US Census enumerated him as Gersham A. Sherman (given age 37), the head of household at Greenfield, Saratoga County, New York, on 12 June 1860. Sarah Sherman (given age 37), Mary Jane Sherman (given age 11) and Edward Sherman (given age 11 months) were listed as household members.³
     The 1870 US Census enumerated him as Gursham Sherman (given age 48), the head of household at Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York, on 4 August 1870. Sarah A. Sherman (given age 48), Mary J. Sherman (given age 22) and Edwin W. Sherman (given age 11) were listed as household members.⁴
     The 1880 US Census enumerated him as George Sherman (given age 58), the head of household Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York, on 13 June 1880. Also living in the household were his wife, Sarah Sherman (given age 58), his son, Edwin W. Sherman (given age 20), his daughter, Mary J. Sherman (given age 32) .⁵ Gaston Sherman (given age 78) was listed as the father-in-law of Judson Ecker (given age 51) on the 1900 Census recorded 9 June 1900 Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York.⁶

     The 1880 US Census enumerated him as Peleg A. Sherman (given age 53), the head of household Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, on 9 June 1880. Also living in the household were his wife, Sarah S. Sherman (given age 53), his son, Edwin Sherman (given age 30), his daughter-in-law, Eva F. Sherman (given age 25), his granddaughter, Ida M. Sherman (given age 3), his mother, Amy Sherman (given age 82) . Peleg was employed as a Book-Keeper.³
