He was mustered out of Company E, 2nd Infantry Regiment Rhode Island on 21 Aug 1865 at Slough Hospl, Washington, DC.2
     The 1910 US Census enumerated him as Gershom E. Sherman (given age 64), the head of household at Masonic Avenue, Urbanna, Middlesex County, Virginia, on 4 May 1910, living alone. Gershom was employed as a Mason.3
     Gershom E. Sherman applied for a military pension on 31 May 1911 at Virginia.2

     The 1900 US Census enumerated him as Judson Ecker (given age 51), the head of household at Broadalbin, Fulton County, New York, on 9 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Mary Ecker (given age 51), his father-in-law, Gaston Sherman (given age 78), his mother-in-law, Sarah Sherman (given age 78) .1
