Silas Rice was born on Sunday, 10 April 1695 at Marlborough, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, British America, (now Massachusetts).1 He witnessed the death of Nahor Rice on Friday, 8 August 1704 Marlborough, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay. While the Rices were spreading flax to dry near the house of Silas's uncle Thomas Rice, a small party of Caughnawaga Mohawks attacked the group, killing Silas's brother Nahor and capturing Silas and three other boys. The four captives were carried off to Canada, where Silas was adopted into the tribe and was given the name Tookanowras. He had a wife and children there.1

Nahor Rice was born on Friday, 21 August 1699 at Marlborough, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, British America, (now Massachusetts).1
Nahor died in infancy of being slain by Indians at the age of 4 years, 11 months and 18 days on 8 August 1704 Marlborough, Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, at age 4 While the Rices were spreading flax to dry near the house of his uncle Thomas Rice, a small party of Caughnawaga Mohawks attacked the group, killing Nahor and capturing his brothers Silas andThomas and two other boys. The four captives were carried off to Canada, where they were adopted into the tribe.1
