     The 1900 US Census enumerated him as John H. Fowler (given age 55), the head of household at 319 East Van Buren Street, Ottawa, La Salle County, Illinois, on 6 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Clara E. Fowler (given age 46), his sons, Wright E. Fowler (given age 15) and Rex H. Fowler (given age 6) . John was employed as a lawyer.⁴
     John Hale died on 10 November 1902 La Salle County, Illinois, at age 57 leaving Clara E. as a widow.¹

     Rex Hale died in October 1972 at age 79.³
