     The 1860 US Census enumerated him as T. S. Alexander (given age 33), the head of household at Oxford, Henry County, Illinois, on 12 September 1860. Mary Alexander (given age 29) and Charles Alexander (given age 7) were listed as household members. T. was self employed as a Farmer.4
     The 1870 US Census enumerated him as Jno. Alexander (given age 43), the head of household at Prairie City, McDonough County, Illinois, on 10 August 1870. Mary Alexander (given age 39), Chas. Alexander (given age 16) and Mary M. Alexander (given age 3) were listed as household members. Jno. was employed as a Physician.5
     The 1880 US Census enumerated him as J. S. Alexander (given age 53), the head of household at New Windsor, Mercer County, Illinois, on 16 June 1880. Also living in the household were his wife, M. E. Alexander (given age 49), his daughter, May Alexander (given age 11) . J. was employed as a Physician.6
     The 1900 US Census enumerated him as John Alexander (given age 72), the head of household at Malinta, Henry County, Ohio, on 23 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Mary Alexander (given age 69). John was employed as a Physician.7
     The 1910 US Census enumerated him as John S. Alexander (given age 82), the head of household at Waverly, Morgan County, Illinois, on 19 April 1910. Also living in the household was his wife, Mary E. Alexander (given age 78).8
     Jonathan S. died in 1912 Waverly, Morgan County, Illinois, leaving Mary Elizabeth as a widow.1,2
