     The 1850 US Census enumerated him as Peter Rumsey (given age 33), the head of household Republic, Seneca County, Ohio, on 25 October 1850. Charlott Rumsey (given age 31), Maluida Rumsey (given age 11), James Rumsey (given age 9), John Rumsey (given age 7), Burtis Rumsey (given age 5) and Byron Rumsey (given age 3) were listed as household members. Maria McClung (given age 57) was listed as his neighbor. Peter was employed as a Blacksmith.3
     The 1860 US Census enumerated him as Peter Rumsey (given age 46), the head of household at Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa, on 6 June 1860.      The 1900 US Census enumerated him as B. H. Rumsey (given age 55), the head of household at 19½ Platinum Street, Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana, on 1 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Margaret J. Rumsey (given age 39), his son, Harold B. Rumsey (given age 17), his daughter, Lottie Rumsey (given age 21) . B. was employed as a Miner of Ore.5
     Burtis Harwood Rumsey lived in 1904 at Montana.6
     The 1910 US Census enumerated him as Burtis H. Rumsey (given age 64), the head of household at Medford, Jackson County, Oregon, on 14 May 1910. Also living in the household were his wife, Margaret Rumsey (given age 49), his grandsons, Burtis Rumsey (given age 11) and Roscoe Rumsey (given age 9) .7
     Burtis Harwood died on 25 January 1917 Medford, Jackson County, Oregon, at age 71.4 He was buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, located at Medford, Jackson County, Oregon.8
