     At age 44, Emily Norcross married first James Hale Newton, age 72, son of James Newton and Esther Hale, on Wednesday, 29 June 1904.2 Emily Newton (given age 51) was listed as the wife of James H. Newton (given age 78) on the 1910 Census recorded 19 April 1910 at 399 Northampton Street, Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts.3 Emily N. Newton (given age 60) was listed as the wife of James H. Newton (given age 88) on the 1920 Census recorded 21 January 1920 at 1766 Northampton Street, Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts.4
     Her husband, James, died say 1921, leaving Emily as a widow.
     Emily Norcross was issued a U.S. Passport on 26 December 1922 at 135 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. She was a widow at the time.1
