     At age 19, Maria J. Chittenden married Frank A. Horton, age 24, son of James M. Horton and Elizabeth Smith, on Thursday, 22 October 1868 at Seneca County, Ohio. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Rev. Jeremiah H. Good.4,5,6 Mary Horton (given age 21) was listed as a household member living with Frank Horton (given age 23) on the 1870 Census on 4 August 1870 Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.7 Marian Horton (given age 31) was listed as the wife of Frank A. Horton on the 1880 Census recorded 3 June 1880 Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.8
     Maria J. died on 12 June 1883 at age 33 leaving Frank A. as a widower.1 Maria J. Chittenden was buried in the Farewell Retreat Cemetery, located at Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.1
