     At age 39, Ruth Baker married Samuel McClung, age 50, son of Robert McClung and Catherine Conklin, on Wednesday, 8 September 1858 at Seneca County, Ohio. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Thomas Thompson M. G.2,3,4,5 Ruth B. McClung (given age 61) was listed as the wife of Saml. McClung (given age 71) on the 1880 Census recorded 20 July 1880 at High Point Township, Decatur County, Iowa.6 Ruth McClung (given age 69) was listed as a household member living with Saml. McClung (given age 76) on the 1885 Iowa State Census in 1885 at High Point, Decatur County, Iowa.7

     Herman Gurnee Coe was born on Saturday, 7 January 1826 at Benton, Yates County, New York.1
     The 1850 US Census enumerated him as H. G. Coe (given age 34), the head of household living alone at Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio, on 28 October 1850. H. was employed as a Book Keeper.2 He and Catherine McClung obtained a marriage license on 24 May 1852 at Seneca County, Ohio.3
     At age 26, Herman Gurnee Coe married Catherine McClung, age 24, daughter of Robert McClung and Catherine Conklin, on Monday, 31 May 1852 at Seneca County, Ohio. The wedding ceremony was conducted by Minister Chas. B. Sheldon.3,4,5
     The 1856 Iowa State Census enumerated him as H. G. Coe (given age 30), the head of household at Centre Township, Cedar County, Iowa, in 1856. Catherine Coe (given age 28) and C. N. Coe (given age 1) were listed as household members.6
     The 1860 US Census enumerated him as H. G. Coe (given age 34), the head of household Centre Township, Cedar County, Iowa, on 15 June 1860. Catharine Coe (given age 30), Clarra Coe (given age 5) and Isabella Coe (given age 3) were listed as household members.7
     The 1870 US Census enumerated him as H. G. Coe (given age 44), the head of household at Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, on 21 June 1870. Catharine Coe (given age 42), Clara Coe (given age 15), Isabell Coe (given age 12), Victor Coe (given age 8) and Pliny Coe (given age 5) were listed as household members.7
     The 1880 US Census enumerated him as Herman G. Coe (given age 53), the head of household Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, on 17 June 1880. Also living in the household were his wife, Catharine Coe (given age 53), his sons, Victor G. Coe (given age 18) and Pliny Coe (given age 15) . Herman was employed as a Retired Farmer.8
     The 1900 US Census enumerated him as Herman G. Coe (given age 74), the head of household Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, on 5 June 1900. Also living in the household was his wife, Katherine M. Coe (given age 72) . Herman was the President of a Bank.9
     The 1905 Iowa State Census enumerated him as Herman G. Coe, the head of household Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, in 1905. Kate M. Coe was listed as a household member.10
     The 1910 US Census enumerated him as H. G. Coe (given age 84), the head of household at Fourth Street, Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, on 18 April 1910. Also living in the household were his wife, Katherine Coe (given age 82) . H. had his Own Income.11
He moved with his parents to Seneca Co., Ohio, and later settled at Clarence, Cedar Co., Iowa where he engaged in farming on an extensive scale. He retired from farming and became president of the Clarence Savings Banks. One of the leading citizens of Cedar Co., he served several terms as a county commissioner.12

     Herman Gurnee died on 2 April 1917 Clarence, Cedar County, Iowa, at age 91.1 He was buried in the Clarence Cemetery, located at Dayton Township, Cedar County, Iowa.1
